Beginnings!
Ehh, this is truly how it began...
In a working life cut far too short I met a great many people. I did not expect that to my simple questions (curious ones) I would not get even approximately accurate answers about.... I asked them: 'What is a human being?' - and not one of them, not even by his own reckoning, gave me a good answer...
To keep it short, the good answer, in only seven words, was given to me by a being in the twentieth dream...
'Man is an immortal soul in a mortal body!'
By the way, it also happened that I chanced on a saying of the Buddha - that a man is born into a world he himself has made. - And as if out of spite, the next night the being spoke me a strange counter-statement: 'The soul is born without a world, into worlds it did not make itself.'
Perhaps someone on Earth has said that too, but thinking of the soul in a good light, not one of the stories that follow out of the dreams... gives birth to itself... That I know, I too, as does the one who does not think ahead about the essences of many things. Fantasy need not hold its spirit back... because, even in dreams that come in earnest... there is no forbidden dualism... nor a rule out of anyone's Yoga as a game of the senses...
Ehhh, and besides, the remarks of several editors speak to it... that neither scholars with deep insight into the structure of Earthly nature, nor recognised astronomers as far as the Universe is concerned, can expect of this novel what it holds. Spiritual teachers, on the other hand, could learn a good deal more about dealing with the ordinary man, who is advancing terribly, because, commoners have not existed for a long time now.
So I wrote the introduction more seriously, as an opening word with eight similarly 'taut' perspectives...
